Jake Frederick Olson is a film composer and sound designer based in Los Angeles, CA. With experience in film, commercials, and podcasts, he specializes in the creation of sonic worlds through musical and auditory stimulus. Vibrant yet thoughtful, Jake’s melodic style reflects his love for emotional expression through artistic means.

Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Jake has been exploring the performance and creation of music since he turned 9 years old. Inspired by his grandfather, an accomplished trumpet player, Jake picked up the trumpet. Later, he learned drumset, piano, and became a modern composer. He took this passion to Berklee College of Music, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Film Scoring.

Jake's music combines elements of orchestral, acoustic, and synthetic genres, creating a diverse soundscape that integrates seamlessly with any soundtrack. He aims to amplify the drama and create a captivating original musical score. As a composer, his primary goal, and passion, is always storytelling. His artistic style combines composers of the Romantic-era with today’s most innovative artists.

Recently, Jake has been working as a film composer and sound designer on short films like Noor (2021), Apparition (2021), and more. Some of his past films include Cuban Earth (2020), where Jake Co-Composed the film with a team of composers. Cuban Earth won a silver, and two gold Telly Awards in the Non-Broadcast Division.

“I don’t make a particular distinction between ‘high art’ and ‘low art.’ Music is there for everybody. It’s a river we can all put our cups into and drink it and be sustained by it.”

  - John Williams
